How do you think nerdy co-workers repay favors at work?

Although I’d love to sit around and play video games all day, I have to make an income somehow. I do that by working at a very unique company in the market research world in a very unique situation. Most of my co-workers are located in Spain, working 9 hours ahead in time. One particular co-worker has had to stay up late on multiple, consecutive nights, ignoring the wonderful nightlife in Madrid, to program some landing page or extra parameter … Continue reading

Steve goes hardcore during a long night in Vegas

This past November the game character we all affectionately know as “Steve” went to Las Vegas for his first time to celebrate the release of his (I mean Notch’s) game, Minecraft. Las Vegas was great, Minecon was all right (could have been better)…but what people don’t know is about Steve’s down and dirty night on the Las Vegas Strip. Here’s the real story about how Steve enjoyed his time in Sin City.   Needless to say, Steve was a little … Continue reading

Meet Joel Levin, the Minecraft Teacher

Joel Levin has become well known in the Minecraft community as the “Minecraft Teacher.” He is the reason teachers and schools have implemented Minecraft Educational Programs in schools across America. In fact, he is developing a new project with the help of Mojang to make almost like a white label of the game for the education sector. Check out this short interview I was able to arrange with Joel after a panel he sat on at Minecon. Tweet

MINECRAFT HAS LAUNCHED!

Minecraft has officially been launched by Notch and the Mojang team at Minecon in Las Vegas. I literally had to sprint to get my seat in the 10th row back from the stage and must say, it was well worth it! Minecraftchick, Mojang’s “Director of Fun,” emcee-ed the 90 minute launch in front of 5,000 players at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Check out this video of the launch! The Minecraft Pocket Edition was also announced at the launch, and … Continue reading

Minecon: Day One

We made it. Treepunch and I have been in Vegas since 9:30am and things are GOOD! We had a lot of time to kill today and ended up getting temporary Creeper tattoo’s on our wrist so we can look even more awesome when we meet Notch tomorrow. As for Minecon Day One: We just picked up our Minecon tickets and are ready for tomorrow. Our cute little Creeper Backpacks have paper doll Steve’s and creepers as well as a Minecraft … Continue reading

Creative-Survival VS. Anarchy Minecraft Servers…You Choose.

Here is a video I did on the difference between a ‘creative-survival’ and an ‘anarchy’ Minecraft server. With the help of ‘treepunch’ from Treepunch and ‘zerg960′ from Kreatious, see what kind of server you’d like to play on. Game on, players. Tweet

Days 8, 9 and 10: Finishing up the Door-Prize Challenge: Would you like to know my coords?

Since playing on Treepunch I’d only been building structures or mining until I got bored. I never really searched for diamonds, redstone, (etc) because I was much more entertained building a house and then decorating it with the gamble of paintings you may end up with on the walls. For those of you who aren’t familiar, Minecraft allows you decorate the walls with paintings, but the images are chosen at random so you can’t really “plan” on what your wall … Continue reading

Day 6 and 7: No longer in Heaven: Killed on an anarchy Minecraft server

I finally died on Treepunch. Twice. The first time I died I was digging for diamonds to use as the reward in the maze challenge I’m working on when I found a  lava lake. Having never made obsidian before and happening to have some buckets I decided to gather some. Things got difficult here because I also saw some iron above and to the the right of this lava. Wanting both, I went for making a bridge across the lava … Continue reading

Day Five: No Longer in Heaven on an anarchy Minecraft Server: Diamonds, Giants and Parties, OH MY!

Today I decided I’m no longer playing in a little piece of heaven on this anarchy Minecraft server. Since the update to version 1.4, Treepunch has expanded its map from 8000 blocks to 20,000. Now I’m just somewhere in the middle, it’s no longer safe here…this is bat country! Earlier today when I began playing I decided to just go exploring. I ended up finding a glitch in the map rendering and was able to find about 15 diamonds to … Continue reading
